However, my commitment to learning and self-improvement continues, as I’m currently pursuing additional certifications, including British Formal Dining Etiquette.

A fundamental aspect of enhancing your manners begins with deportment, which forms the basis of creating an impeccable first impression. Deportment encompasses not only how you walk and carry yourself but also the art of leaving an indelible mark in a room. It’s those who effortlessly glide through life that we remember. You too can master this art, and it all begins with proper deportment.
3. What’s your go-to advice for hosting a successful dinner party or event?
Successful event hosting starts with meticulous planning. While I adore hosting, I’ve learned that delegating tasks to others can be a lifesaver. After years of frenetic scrambling, I’ve discovered a few essential tips. First, plan every detail meticulously and put it in writing. Create a detailed schedule that even includes when to pop your dishes in the oven and when to serve cocktails. Second, don’t hesitate to outsource wherever possible; even Martha Stewart has help. Third, expect the unexpected. Mishaps are inevitable, but the conversations and memories are what truly matter.

I’m currently engrossed in Jacqueline Whitmore’s books on business etiquette as well, further enhancing my expertise.

Balancing modernity and tradition is achieved by understanding the context in which specific etiquette rules apply. Sometimes, good manners are more about kindness and less about knowing which fork to use. Finding that equilibrium is key to an elegant and harmonious lifestyle.
8. What’s the most common etiquette mistake you encounter, and how can people avoid it?
One common etiquette blunder I often come across involves dining etiquette, specifically the handling of red wine glasses. Some mistakenly hold these glasses by the bowl, thinking it’s acceptable because their fingers can warm the wine. While this warmth might not be disastrous, it does leave unsightly finger smudges on the glass that someone must clean later. Dining etiquette is all about conducting yourself discreetly, drawing minimal attention, and leaving as little mess as possible for those responsible for the clean-up.
