Lover of all things classic and timeless.
Autumn, with its crisp air and colorful foliage, has always held a special place in our hearts. It’s a time when the days grow shorter, and the world seems to slow down just a bit. The weather turns wonderfully chill, and as we cozy up indoors, there’s an undeniable magic in the air. It’s the season of warm blankets, steaming mugs of coffee, and the soft glow of candles flickering in the dim light. And what better way to relish these moments than by losing ourselves in the pages of a good book?
But here’s a confession: as much as I adore reading, I’ll be the first to admit that I have a knack for getting distracted. It can take me quite a while to journey through the pages of a book. Yet, isn’t that the beauty of reading? The ability to savor every word, to get lost in the intricate tapestry of a story, and to emerge from the other side, forever changed.
In this blog, I’d like to share with you some of my favorite books and the ones I’ve recently delved into. Autumn seems to be the ideal time for literary exploration, and whether you’re a fast reader or someone who takes their time, there’s a book out there for each of us. So, grab a cup of coffee, light that cozy candle, and join me as we embark on a journey through the enchanting world of autumn reading.
Etiquette related Books:
I remember once, during a psychology class, my professor mentioned that we should begin building our professional library. The concept was a collection of books you could return to during your career and ones that align with your professional values. These are the books I go back to repeatedly and ones that I love having in my professional library.
Fiction
I go through phases with fiction books. I prefer historical novels about actual events or historical figures and epic fantasy. I will admit to reading the entire Bridgerton series during the pandemic, and while I enjoyed them, I tend to avoid romance books. For me I love being transported to another time or world and a really developed world and characters but I don’t love a ton of explicit scenes if you get what I am saying. It’s just not my thing and tend to skip over those parts. These are the books I have read recently or some old favorites.
Non-Fiction
Now that I am no longer in school, I only read some nonfiction. I do read my etiquette books but I like novels more. I do, however, have a few nonfiction books in my library that I adore. You have probably heard me talk about Jennifer L. Scott’s books if you follow me on Instagram, so it will be no surprise to find them here. You will find a variety of hosting and cookbooks, self help, theology and elegant lifestyle books. Let’s get to it:
I hope you enjoyed this tour of my bookshelves and hope you find a new favorite here. Let me know if the comments what books you love to recommend to others.
